Session 24: Gala of the Otherworld
General Summary
After training intesively with the heroes of Lowry, the party gathers allies that are willing to storm the Northern Isles with them. While gathering troops, a squadrant of acolytes come from the Church of Solar in Ultribar lead by the priest Jong-O Flobongius, promising to help the party. They additionally gather the forces of the Thri-Keen, Soul Sun Monks, Krieg, Penny, the people of Lowry, and the Unseen, who are mostly happy to aid the people that saved them.
As they land on the Northern Isles, the party forces themselves into the battle field. The undead quickly became no match for the party who destroyed the front lines. Barack snuck to the backlines where he deceived the undead ranged fighters into killing each other and the Grave Walker Cultist to go forward and take on Lacrosse. Jong-O and Lacrosse traded spells and attacks against the head cultist while Mortimer and Barack take out the grunts with ease. After clearing the battlefield, Krieg and the others urge the party to storm the castle in order to finish the job.
The castle was full of generals and soldiers that were undead, all present to celebrate the Gala of the Otherworld. At the gala, Elustria reveals that she has successfully gained enough troops to finally take the mainland with eyes on the capital. As if that was not bad enough, Elustria also retrieved the corpse of Octavius the Leonin fighter that she had initially sent off to kill the party but failed when he found them on the island of Labyrinth. Octavius quickly noticed the party in the crew by smelling them and eventually began to move towards them.
Outside of the castle, the party felt that they escaped the gaze of the fighter but they quickly noticed him standing on the spires of a tower with Elustria waiting for them. Elustria stole her diary and Barack put together that the book was bound to her soul meaning that without destroying it she could potentially be revived forever. Mortimer offers to help her get her vengeance by killing the king, allowing the party to get away without needing to fight the undead grunts.
After she prepares to leave, Octavius tells the party that he would love to kill them himself, but instead he has to go visit the village of Lowry. The party also saw that a thick cloud erupted from the castle and overtook the castle. Without much information the party realized that the smoke was a gaseous form of the Half-Death which now was beginning to overtake the world. Additionally, Slap Nuts touched down, now infected by the poison.
