Session 16: Hunt for the Archives

After angering Glitter, a dryad who protects the Great Tree, she summons forth twig blight and a shambling mound to fight the party. In the fight, Dong, Steve, and Clamente were each absorbed by the monster bringing each of them close to death and actually knocked Clamente unconscious. Gar Gar and Harold battled the vines off but by time the beast was defeated, Clamente was transported to the canopy of the tree by magical means. Steve interrogated Glitter to try and figure out where Clamente went but all he could find out was that the alliance between the giants and the dragons were shaky. As soon as he started to get somewhere with his interrogation, a dragon descended on the party, forcing the party to follow a Satyr named Karna to safety.

Dong followed Clamente but after losing him inside the trunk of the tree, he went into a portal that lead to the archives unsuspectingly. Meanwhile on the canopy, Grun returned from terrorizing the party to Clamente who was seeking a way out of the nest of the dragon. Clamente failed to persuade the dragon to let him be and as a last ditch effort, jumped 200 ft towards the portal Dong went into. The dragon saw through the trick and batted Clamente into the side of the tree and killed Clamente sending him to the afterlife.

Gar Gar, Harold, and Steve each were given a healing potion by the satyr who saved them from the dragon, and were then given an offer. Karna would guide the party to the sigil that transports them to the Archives, so long as they promise to kill the dragon Grun upon their return. Steve took a blood pact that will cause him a great deal of pain if he bails on.

In the afterlife, Clamente awaited judgement and after the Eternal Judge determined that he was a good person, Clamente was given the choice of where his soul would belong. The All-Father discovered the party and their plans to kill him but after offering Clamente the chance to join him, Clamente rejected and secured himself as a target. Clamente in the end dedicated his soul to the Raven Queen, making him even more endebted to her.

As the party collected themselves inside the Bane and face to face with two figures dueling. The two were Mortimer and Moses, the latter of which was actually staying in the Material Plane as a favor from Ohrer. Moses extended his visit to the plane after Elustria was defeated to try to counsel Mortimer on how to give up his attempts at vengeance. The two told the party that if they sought the Archives they can feel free but it will not be easy.
