Revenant Undead
A variation on regular Undead, Revenant Undead are the closest thing to true immortality that Necromancers have achieved so far. Contrary to normal undead, Revenants either had their original soul returned to their body, or the spirit of an incorporeal Undead has somehow retained the exact personality they had in life. Like regular Undead, there are two types of Revenants:
- Corporeal. The corpse moves, and while it still has original soul associated with it, it is no longer fully one of the mortal races. Usually, it's in some state of decomposition. And sometimes, it has forgotten the memory of its death and still believes itself to be alive. Should they realize their current state of being, they often walk the world in either intense grief or thirst for vengeance.
- Incorporeal. This form of Undead lacks a physical form, and often visualizes itself as a rotted, decomposed version of its former self. However, they can be forced to temporarily take a corporeal form through certain means. They are more prone to forget the memory of their deaths than their corporeal counterparts, and most believe they're still alive.
