Sweet Tusk's Sugar Shop
Tucked away in the Merchant District of Valorport is what many consider to be a local delight. It's off the beaten path for most tourists, though the residents of Valorport praise Sweet Tusk's Sugar Shop as the best candy shop in the city. Owned by Gulmak "Sweet Tusk" Stonewind, Sweet Tusk's sells a wide variety of candies with inspiration taken from across Savinaru. The store's logo is a smiling, cartoon styled orc with candy canes for tusks.
While Sweet Tusk will often have specials or seasonal treats, he also maintains a stock of classics and favorites, including dwarven rock candy, caramels, maple candy, chocolate covered nuts and novelty shaped chocolates. He is always eager to learn about new candies from other lands, and once he has sufficiently mastered a new confection will put it on the menu. If it does well, he'll add it to the stable menu, but if it fails to live up to expectations he'll leave it for special occasions.
However, while people love his normal sweets, the real reason he is so beloved is his experimentation with magical candies. By incorporating potions and magical reagents into his creations, Sweet Tusk has managed to add magical effects to those who eat his candy. None of these effects last very long, but the fun of going super speed after eating a candy cane keeps people coming back. Some of the more popular ones include Chocstitution, a chocolate candy that fortifies the eater for a short time, Sugar Rush, a candy cane stick coated in sugar crystals that makes the eater faster and Dragon Drops, a spicy candy that makes the eater burp a small cloud of flame.
Architecture
The front of the store is a classic candy store. Shelves full of sweet treats, a glass front counter to show off some of the best stuff, and bright colors everywhere creating a playful atmosphere. Sweet Tusk wants the front of the store as welcoming as possible, especially to the numerous children of all species who form a good chunk of his customer base. This also extends outside the store, with the exterior of his store painted a bright blue with a large logo above the door and several posters about his newest creations.
Behind the store is a half kitchen half alchemy lab. Sweet Tusk makes all of his candies in house, wanting to ensure the quality himself. He does have plenty of machines back there to help make candy, but does take a personal touch when he can. He's not making mass produced junk, he makes high quality candy. While most of his backroom is taken up by various candy machines, he does have a few separate rooms for his magical experiments. He has a deal with a local apothecary to provide him with potions for him to mix into his specialty candies.
Tourism
While almost no one comes to Valorport for Sweet Tusk's, those who visit for other reasons are often told that they need to try this candy or that from Sweet Tusk. Those who do come specifically for Sweet Tusk's are usually other confectioners who have either heard that he's made some new enchanted treat or want to learn from him. He doesn't take apprentices on often, though he is always happy to yammer on about his trade.
