Ygma (Ig-mah)
Ygma are medium-sized pteranodons that can be trained to carry riders and goods. These creatures have to be trained from hatchlings to respect their riders, lest they throw their masters off miles in the air.
Ygma are larger than pteranodons, but smaller than quetzalcoatli, making them perfect mounts for Medium sized creatures. Typically, ygma are raised from hatching to bear riders, and breeders will pay good money (~50 gp) for ygma eggs, with full grown ygma going for upwards of 200 gold each.
Basic Information
Genetics and Reproduction
Ygma are solitary creatures outside of mating seasons, when they come back to roost and find mates in large colonies. Ygma make nests and lay eggs in shelters inlets in the rock, out of the sun and the wind. They feed their young until they can fly and hunt on their own, which usually takes about 3 months.
Ecology and Habitats
Ygma in the wild choose to nest in the cliffs and mountains across the wastelands. They prefer to live in arid environments, and out of the reach of predators, which makes them a rarity in humid locales like the Alawhazi Marshes.
Dietary Needs and Habits
Ygma are carnivorous creatures. Their diet includes rodents, lizards, small mammals, eggs, and birds. They generally eat every 2 to 3 days.
Additional Information
Perception and Sensory Capabilities
Ygma have keen sight, which allows them to find prey from quite high up in the air.
Lifespan
25 yrs.
