Red Gash

Red Gash is a scraptown in the Dune Sea. Built on a foundation of solid sandstone, Red Gash is a hub of commerce and industry, and most travelers' first stop in the Dune Sea. The town is well-guarded due to its skyports for large flying machines and its smithies. The billowing smokestacks of Red Gash are visible from miles away, a side-effect of the town's smithies, which render ancient scrap into usable metal.

Defences

Red Gash is protected by a host of mercenary guards, who are both well-armed and armored. The town has high walls, topped with ballistae and dotted with arrow slits. The guards are armed with crossbows, and lookouts are posted at all hours to watch the dunes for threats.

Industry & Trade

Imports: Coal, ancient scrap   Exports: Ancient scrap, ingots, power cores   Red Gash trades with several duergar outposts in the Ash Peaks, trading high-quality metal for weapons, armor, and other resources. Long-range sky barges pass over the mountains and go all the way to Cheth Driesad, to sell their wares at the Grand Bazaar.

Infrastructure

  • Blast furnaces

Assets

Warehouses of ancient metal ingots, power cores, and other valuable scrap. Blueprints for Kolichev technology and reverse-engineered vehicles and weapons.

Architecture

Many homes are carved directly into the red rocks themselves.

Geography

Red Gash is roughly 50 miles east of the Screaming Cliffs, built on a high outcrop of reddish sandstone that looks out over the dunes.

Natural Resources

Teams of scrappers and miners from across the Dune Sea collect resources which are then brought to Red Gash for processing and production. Scrap metal is brought in by scavvers in bulk quantities, and coal is always needed to keep the town's smithies running.
