Hivelands
In the wake of devastation, the Dunefolk emerged from their burrows under the mountains. They looked out over the blasted land, now abandoned of civilization, and saw opportunity. So they settled.
The Hivelands was a bustling place of industry and agriculture. Drones scurrying every which way, hectic workshops, lush fields, and energized training grounds. While the rest of the wasteland was busy warring with one another, the Hivelands was thriving. They were unified, strong, and well-protected from raiders and beasts.
But what they didn't account for was attacks from the inside. So when a strange fungus infected the minds and bodies of their comrades, turning them against the hive, Dunefolk society fell apart. With no way to cure this sickness, they were forced to amputate the infected limb altogether. They fled their homes and took to caravanning, hoping to one day find a safe place to settle.
Today, the ancestral home of the Dunefolk is a sad sight. Toxic fungi sprout up out of ruined homes, and vast mushrooms disrupt the streets of once-great cities. The only life here are the fungal husks, horrible mockeries of life. Where a colony of insects once thrived, now only a colony of fungi remains.
