Sylvans
Sylvans command the forces of nature, controlling plants, animals, and even weather. Their magic is deeply tied to the earth itself, often making them the guardians of wilderness and the natural world. Sylvans often utilize their bloodline spark in ways that support the land; enhancing crops, building natural defenses, and adjusting migration pattens of animals to support biodiversity. Sylvan fields of expertise make them one of the most sought after combinations for other bloodline families to combine with. Archons might seek them out for unions to lean into the martial prowess of natural elements and animal power, while Necros might leaning the elements of life natural to the Sylvans as a means of enhancing their own death themed magic resulting in a wide array of complex applications.
Bloodline Powers
Common Powers:
Plant Manipulation: Sylvans can make plants grow at will, shaping them into weapons, barriers, or even living creatures. They can control the growth rate of trees, vines, and flowers. Sylvans may also use this affinity to enlarge yields of crops or alter certain landscapes to be arable where previously they were barren.
Animal Communication: Many Sylvans can speak with or even control animals. They might call upon flocks of birds to deliver messages, command beasts to fight for them, or even shape-shift into animal forms. Some masters of shape-shifting like the Wurmari utilize this aspect of Sylvan power to the extreme.
Weather Manipulation: Some Sylvans can manipulate the weather, calling storms, rain, or lightning to suit their needs, especially those connected to the elemental forces of nature. These abilities are often sought after for pairings with Archon families or Mentat lines along the Yalese Coast.
Rare Powers:
Life Synergy: The most powerful Sylvans can connect with all living things and can synchronize their life force with nature, allowing them to heal or revive the dead by drawing energy from the earth itself. Different from Medico healing that is pulled from healing magic, Sylvan life energy often has a high cost to the balance of nature. Healing someone from the dead might leave a large zone of devastation around the revived person to harvest the sufficient power necessary.
Terraforming: Class 4 and 5 Sylvans have also been known to possess the ability to completely alter the land itself, shaping mountains, rights and oceans. Such high level environmental maniuplation is extremely difficult both in its power draw and its execution. Deep knowledge of the environment is necessary to stave off complete disaster, and even then is only used in desperate situations. The martial applications of this power are not lost on Sylvan enemies: to terraform a enemy's arable land into desert could be devastating to a war campaign.
