Light Sap
History & Usage
Everyday use
Light Sap is used in Nezzonite prayer rituals, allowing a deeper connection between a believer and the Light.
Cultural Significance and Usage
For the Nezzonite's, the discovery of Prophet's Light was viewed as the answer to Anita Brighton's prophecy when she arrived in Nazteth, the Light had been found in the depths of darkness. Lucy Brighton quickly laid claim to the discovery and authority over its distribution in order to protect it from the heathen settlement, Claystown, though most cared little about the discovery.
Upon refining the thick sap, it was discovered, according to Lucy Brighton, that it gave a spiritual connection to the light. As such, Lucy began distributing the sap to her congregation for use in prayer rituals.
Outside of the Nezzonite community Light Sap is often viewed as a dangerous and highly addictive hallucinogenic. Several requests have been submitted to the Covenant requesting to study Light Sap, but thus far Lucy Brighton was denied all of them.
Hazards
Exposure to unrefined Light Sap or Propeht's Light spores can cause a variety of illnesses as well as Bishop Syndrome which can result in hideous physical transformations and loss of self control.
Distribution
Law & Regulation
Under Unified Territory claim laws ownership of the discovery belongs to Lucy Brighton and The Radiant Covenant. As such the Covenant has denied all access to the Prophet's Light growing beneath Mount Verrin and the sap produced from the lichen.
This really needs a better name...
