Uttartris Tarnzipiyas

General introduction

During the reign of the Shatratalli dynasty in Badur Hurasham, king Zelendas ordered the erection of a sacrificial platform to the sky god Din Nemmis. Legend has it, that Zelendas was so devout to Din Nemmis, that he did not dictate the edict to commission the platform, but rather stamped the clay tablet himself.

There are two copies in existence of this clay tablet, but the original tablet is lost to time. Nonetheless there is a contemporary document, which is a stone carving, that is embedded in the foot of the platform. The text preserved there is vastly different than the one from the copies. So there is a chance, that the copies of the clay tablet are forgeries.

The Uttartris Tarnzipiyas shows king Zelendas as the driving force in introducing the cult of Din Nemmis to Badur Hurasham. Zelendas was one of the more important early rulers of Badur Hurasham. During his reign, the area under the city's influence grew significantly through his many successful campaigns and conquests of neighbouring cities. Zelendas used the influx of wealth to fund constructions throughout the city. He reinforced the city walls and installed a well in the southeastern park, which has now been lost to time. One distinct building he commissioned is the Tarnzipis, a sacrificial platform on the Pupulis Aliyas, the western hill of the city. A carved stone from the base of the platform holds one version of the Uttartris Tarnzipiyas:

Only a hundred days after my coronation, I, Zelendas of Badur Hurasham erect this platform as testiment to my belief in the great god of the sky. Chosen by Din Nemmis I took this city and so I chose the closest point to the sky for him. Here on the hill of the deers I lay the foundations for this place of sacrifice. It is Tarnzipis, dedicated to Din Nemmis in gratitude. As he gave me this city, I give him this city. Here the white sheep shall be slain for him, here the clear spirit shall be libated for him. Din Nemmis gave me strength, so I can put down this stone for him.
