Fall of Ciermanuinn

Disaster / Destruction

The Siege of Ciermanuinn, also referred to as the Fall of Ciermanuinn, is recorded as the first of the twin origins of the Saga of the Silver Blade. Ciermanuinn served as a sanctuary or refuge for the Vesprian royal family, and Torryaen the Great decreed that her descendants by Avraan must spend part of their formative years among the Elowyn to understand their heritage.
The assault was led by the Nottsver, a violent and zealous sect of the Stornir known as "Night Swords". They invaded with numbers never before seen on Aille, appearing to be driven by an unseen force. The Stornir tore through the island's defenses and brought the fight to the Vales of Ciermanuinn for the first time. The battle included the Battle of the Seven Stars at the foot of Torryaen’s Tears, which resulted in heavy casualties for the Sister and Wardens of Ciermanuinn.
Roughly 1,000 civilians escaped through the Alabaster Gate to Vespyr. The Fall of Ciermanuinn set the stage for the wider Saga, trapping the Silver Blade and its wielder (Seeven) on Aille, and creating the orphaned refugee Krysaalis, whose eventual return to Aille in 1081 AV marks the beginning of the Saga of the Silver Blade.
