"The most powerful, but also dangerous, of them all are the Calamity Mages. They can be the ones to destroy all, or the ones to save all, just by casting a low-tier spell to make their breakfast. Truly terrifying." - Kraytos of The Opened Mind
Calamity Mages falls outside the other three types, or more accurately is where the others originate from. This is the purest form of
Magic, and the most unpredictable one. If you tried to cast a spell without prior knowledge on how to handle it, as anyone can attempt from
Cryselia, you will find that you will more than not cause a Wild Surge. This is the most common term of a caster unable to control their magic, but it's not where the term originated. It was originally used to refer to a Sorcerer that no matter how knowledgably and careful they are when casting a spell, can trigger a Wild Surge with even the lowest of spells. They are unable to prevent it, no matter what they do. This is the true definition of a Calamity Mage, one who can't hinder their magic going wild and always risk everything when they attempt magic. Anyone, no matter race or origin, can be born with this, but they always come with a sign of warning upon birth.
