Additional Information
Uses, Products & Exploitation
The moss's hallucinogenic properties were first discovered by bored shepherds watching their bison herds at night. They would find the moss and boil it into a tea, slowly sipping it and enjoying the hallucinogenic effects. Eventually, they started bringing it home, and more people would want it. Doctors decided to start using it to help patients deal with inner turmoil. Because Cinpruxt were making tea with peppermint first, and the moss is made into tea as well, they called it shepherd's peppermint.
In association with this plant, the phrase "watching the bison", the shepherd's job, has come to mean a person believes something crazy, is exaggerating, lying, or acting crazy, because shepherds would come back with tall stories.
