Alligator
Called "Bsam" by local Cinpruxt, small alligators evolved from a plains-dwelling lizard species that strategized around river-based ambushes for catching food. Now an aquatic reptile, they populate the Txiin River. They have gray scales covering a thin, lizard-like body, with powerful jaws full of teeth.
Basic Information
Ecology and Habitats
The Cinpruxtkhaj Grasslands are cold in the winter, freezing parts of the river. Before evolving size for aggression, the population lived in the plains, burrowing in the winter and entering a state of burmation. Now, they have similar winter survival tactics, burowring in the bottom of the river. Their outter layers of tissue become rigidly cold as their heating concentrates on maintaining the temperature of central organs.
Dietary Needs and Habits
Bsam eat meat. They hunt for fish, birds, deer, bison, or anything that will creep up to the River for a drink, occasionally including people. The Cinpruxt tell their children not to play in the river at night because a gator will swallow them whole and they will have to live the rest of their life inside the belly of a gator.
