Syyrh (Che-rah)

The country of Syyrh is the most recent geopolitical state to appear in the Syyrhanian Basin. It is a beautiful country with dense rainforests full of exotic hardwoods, flowing rivers, quaint villages, and it is teeming with plant and animal life. Nestled in the limestone moutains of the Mughul (nfn) Mountain Range, the country is naturally protected from most all outside influences which allowerd the culture to flourish for millennium. This lush and resource rich country has long exported culture, silks, spices, and other plants throughout the world. Yet for all its beauty the citizens of Syyrh cannot ecscape the shadow of war inside the valleys of this country. For over a decade the country has been caught up in a seemingly inexhaustible and cruel civil war between the successors of the Trang Dynasty.          The nation of Syyrh is in a long and bloody civil war. For hundreds of years the Trang dynasty ruled the nation, but after years of misrule, persecution, and cruelty to the peasant class the last ruler of the dynasty was overthrown. He was subsequently defenestrated from the tallest tower in the palace. Many of the late king’s friends, advisor’s, and merchants formed an oligarchy to rule. This ruling class controls most of the natural resources, port city, and capitol. Due to their desire to instate a caste system, and the perception among the commoners that The Oligarchy does not care about the common folk they are not well liked. Another option has emerged in a local warlord and politician named Syahn. He is more poplar than The Oligarchy, but he rules with an iron fist and as an absolute monarch. Some fear that he will be worse than the Trang’s. These two rivals powers have been fighting for dominance over the past decade. Amidst this conflict two rival nations have also decided to join this conflict. The nations of Lochenstien, and Novoras. Officially both nations have expressed a desire to see peace and stability in the region. However other nations think that both nations desire to project power and install a puppet government in the region. Due to the abundance of natural, and luxury resources and access to trade routes the nation of Syyrh is an important player in international trade. Whoever controls it stands to gain not only monetarily but also in prestige and power on the world stage.
