Spelljamming Ships
Spelljamming ships are a vital component of life in the Kagoma System, enabling interplanetary travel and commerce across the vast reaches of space. Powered by Magitech and the energy of Aetherium Crystals, these ships traverse the Void using enchanted helms known as spelljamming helms. With these ships, the Eternal Empire maintains control over the system, colonists explore new worlds, and rebels fight for freedom.
Spelljammers varied enormously in design, but many contained common elements. One such element that was present in a variety of spelljammers were fan-shaped sails, whose purpose was to harness the flow of solar energy, or, if within a planet's atmosphere, the wind. The size of spelljammers was typically measured as their "tonnage", which reflected the volume occupied by a ship in spatial tons and was different from the typical tonnage of Seafaring Ships. One spatial ton was equivalent to a volume of 100 cubic yards (76 cubic meters).

Vehicles & ItemsThe Role of Spelljamming Ships
The invention and proliferation of spelljamming ships allowed the Eternal Empire to expand its reach beyond Avalon, the cradle of civilization, to the moons and planets of the Kagoma System. These ships turned interplanetary travel into a viable reality, enabling the Empire to colonize distant worlds like Orpheus and extract resources on an industrial scale. Entire fleets of spelljammers were built to carry armies, settlers, and supplies, establishing new colonies and fortifying Imperial control across the system.
Military Conquest
Spelljamming ships were integral to the Empire’s wars of expansion, including the First Crusade against the Titans and the Second Crusade against rogue AI. Massive warships like the Dreadnought and Titanic Ark were deployed to crush opposition and enforce compliance, while nimble craft like the Void Skiff scouted uncharted territories.
Colonization
Ships such as the Aether Galleon and Titanic Ark were designed to transport settlers, supplies, and infrastructure to new worlds. These vessels enabled the rapid colonization of resource-rich planets, securing the Empire’s economic dominance.
Merchant Vessels
Ships like the Solar Barque and Squid Ship are commonly used by merchants to move commodities, from luxury goods for the elite to essential supplies for outlying colonies. The Empire’s wealth is bolstered by trade tariffs and fees imposed on these routes.
Resource Extraction
Colonized worlds such as Orpheus are rich in natural resources, including Aetherium Crystals, rare minerals, and agricultural products. Spelljamming ships transport these resources back to Avalon, fueling the Empire’s magitech economy and its war machine.
Military Presence
The Imperial Fleet consists of a wide variety of ships, from nimble scout craft to massive warships. Ships like the Hammerhead are used for patrol and defense, while Dreadnoughts serve as mobile fortresses capable of deploying entire armies.
Enforcement of Order
The Imperial Fleet enforces the Emperor’s will across the system, quelling rebellions, safeguarding trade routes, and defending colonies from external threats such as Neogi pirates or Voidfang Corsairs.
