Mammon

High above the shifting dunes of the Wildlands lies Mastodon Ridge, a solemn graveyard where the titans of ages past rest beneath the tar pits and wind-scoured stones. Here, in the shadows of ancient skulls and curling tusks, dwells Mammon, a primal loxodon whose bloodline traces back to those colossal ancestors.   Mammon is a towering figure of slate-gray hide and swirling crimson markings, his frame both imposing and grounded in quiet strength. Tribal adornments of bone and bronze hang from his neck and ears, each charm a memory of the mastodons he guards. The scent of resin and wild herbs clings to him, remnants of the rituals he performs to honor the dead and keep their spirits at peace.   Known as a shaman or druid, Mammon speaks not only to the wind and stone, but to the lingering fey spirits of Orpheus—ancient beings who still wander the Ridge in forms unseen. Few outsiders are welcome here, for Mammon is both caretaker and warden. He greets trespassers with a choice: leave in peace… or leave in pieces.   Yet for all his fierce reputation, Mammon is a recluse by nature. He spends most of his days in quiet communion with the land, listening to the hum of ley lines beneath the soil or meditating beside the bubbling tar pits. Only when the mastodon graveyard is threatened does the peaceful hermit become the unshakable force of the Wildlands, wielding the wrath of nature itself against those who would desecrate the bones of his kin.
