Brimstone Hollow

Located within the Wildlands just beyond the border zone of Western Cantha, Brimstone Hollow sprawls before you - an industrial hellscape of smoke-choked skies and volcanic fumes. Jagged black rock formations loom over the sulfur mines, their surfaces stained yellow from the crystallized residue of toxic gas vents. The air is thick and heavy, a pungent mix of burning chemicals and sweat, making every breath feel like swallowing hot embers.   A crumbling train station marks the edge of the worksite, its rusted rails disappearing into the darkness of the tunnels ahead. A few decrepit administrative buildings squat near the entrance, their walls stained with soot and sulfur burns. Nearby, sulfur refineries belch columns of noxious fumes into the air, their iron chimneys rattling with each explosion of pressurized gas from deep below. Workers shuffle between them, their faces gaunt, their clothes tattered and streaked with yellow dust.   Beyond the refineries, a makeshift indent camp sprawls across the rocky terrain—rows of sagging tents and patchwork shanties lashed together with scavenged materials. Fires flicker in metal drums, casting eerie shadows over hollow-eyed workers huddled together, whispering of lost hope or stolen rations. The ground beneath them is scorched and cracked, riddled with old scars from past cave-ins or failed escape attempts.   At the heart of the mine, a gaping wound in the earth descends into darkness—the inner mine tunnels, where the true toil begins. The deeper shafts run perilously close to volcanic vents, their walls slick with condensed sulfur. Crude elevator lifts rattle as they descend into the abyss, ferrying exhausted to their stations. Further below lies the Pit, a place whispered about in fearful tones—a gas-choked hell where the sulfur is the purest, but the air is lethal, and horrors unseen lurk within the mist.   A lone figure stands at the entrance, Overseer Gorem Handrik, flanked by his favored enforcers. His gaze sweeps across the newcomers with cold amusement, as if already deciding who will break first.   "Welcome to Brimstone Hollow," he sneers, "where the strong survive, and the weak are buried."
