Boon
Boons are savage, predatory primates that make their homes on rocky outcrops in warm areas, most commonly in Nalendi, Colladia, and Pirenni.
Living in groups ranging in size from 10-40 individuals, the boon hunts in packs, swarming prey with overwhelming numbers from all sides. Using their long fangs, sharp nails, and powerful hands, they'll latch on to prey before tearing at it and biting at vital areas. The physically strongest male is in charge of the gang, using his brute strength to make other males fall in line and work for him.
Highly sexually dimorphic, male boons weigh on average 15 lbs. more than females, and stand several inches higher at the shoulder. Males also have thick manes of fur surrounding their neck and head, both for sexual display and for protection from competing males. It's very easy to tell when it's boon mating season - the buttocks of females swell and turn bright purple. Avoid approaching or interacting with a boon gang during mating season if at all possible, they become even more territorial and irascible.
