Lucky

In 99 PA I was born to a litter of four other pups, two brothers and two sisters, in the Coalition military town of Fort El Dorado. When I had reached adult maturity at the age of five (104 PA), I was conscripted in to the military, as is the norm for my kind. At the time I was happy - as a genetically uplifted canine, you can say that taking joy in serving humans is part of my DNA.   In the summer of 105 PA, I had the misfortune to see service during the Juicer Uprising. The Coalition leadership wanted to curb Juicer technology - ironic, given it's new reliance on the tech - and the Juicers wanted none of it.   In the autumn of 105 PA, Emperor Prosek made his Campaign of Unity speech, and the world was forever changed. Almost immediately we were deployed to the Tolkeen front.   Those days ... they were bad. I loved my humans, but what they were doing was just wrong. Innocents, children, were being slaughtered without thought - without remorse. Demons, dragons, mages - these are enemy combatants. While I don't approve of some of the tactics employed by my group, war is war. But the children ... there was no reason. No need. Just fear and sadism.   So, I left. Abandoning my unit in the middle of a war was the hardest thing I've ever done, and I will never be free of the guilt and shame. However, it was necessary - I could not be part of that pack any more. I have a new pack now - the world. I devoted myself to the ideals of the Cyber-Knights, champions of justice and the weak. I had encountered them throughout the battles with Tolkeen, on either side, and found them to be almost wholly just in their approach to warfare.   Now I make my way to Castle Refuge, near the place of my birth, to join a new group founded by the same man who founded my newly adopted order - the Tomorrow Legion.
