Rifts is a gonzo, post-apocalyptic setting where just about anything is possible. The main action is on Rifts Earth, which has spent about a hundred years pulling itself out of an apocalyptic dark age caused by the coming of the eponymous Rifts (tears in space/time). Humanity exists in pockets of civilization with a few larger nations. Monsters and demons roam the land and even have their own kingdoms. Magic and technology vie for supremacy, with Psionics on either side of the equation.
