The Sisterhood of Poppies
There is a great deal of pain in this world, sisters, and so few trying to stem it's tide. I hope that we can help a few of those who need assistance, even if we need to get a little rough to do it.
Often simply referred to as "the Sisterhood", the Sisterhood of Poppies is an organization of women and men, until recently solely being made up of women, that have offices and facilities across Avallus, all dedicated to the purpose of medical care, triage, and civil aid.
They're most famous for their charity and outreach groups, often operating in frontier towns and poor neighborhoods, hoping to curb the spread of disease and the prevalence of injury. If that was all that they did, there would be little to differentiate them from the many other charitable organizations that a funded by the various churches on the Continent, or philanthropists attempting to bolster their moral standing. Instead, the Sisterhood takes a far more... direct approach.
Their red cloaks are symbolic of protection, for the Sisterhood provides succor at the end of a gun barrel if necessary. The rescue of hostages, seizing of medicine from chemical factories (or sometimes even the base chemicals themselves if needed, and many other such direct but effective actions have been performed by the Sisterhood, and their exploits are as famed as the most prolific knight. This, of course, often means that more 'stable' organizations are hesitant to work with them directly, further forcing their rather dramatic stances.
Regardless, the common man has a fairly sparkingly opinion on the Sisterhood, though such thoughts are very rarely fully formed until they see the Sisterhood in action.
One thing that the Sisterhood can always be relied upon to do, is to fight banditry wherever it manifests. Many of it's members may have differing opinions as to what "reasonable" banditry might be, but they will always protect those that raiders, highwaymen, and other parasitic individuals that attempt to make life harder for those that can't defend themselves.
