Avallus, the Golden Lands
The storm broke, and the wind-tossed vessel was practically thrown into glittering sunlight. The sun sending down shafts of light that speared through the ocean spray, casting rainbows in every direction. Looking to the southeast, the sea and sun crafted an infinite cloud of jewels that ringed their destination like a crown of stars.
Avallus.
It's rolling hills and great plains. The grand mountain ranges that are the only thing that make it's endless tracts seen anything but infinite. The magical currents that flow so rich as to bubble to the surface like oil.
Often simply called "the Continent" by those who reside upon it, Avallus is a continent that sits centrally in comparison to the lands that surround it. While the vast stretches of ocean that exist between it and nearly all other landmasses rendered it practically unapproachable in ancient times, though modern advances in sailing and shipbuilding have made the continent more accessible, and brought a huge influx of people to it's shores in search of wealth and adventure.
In accordance to its vast wealth of natural resources, be they stone, lumber, precious metals and gems, or more esoteric materials, it has attracted people innumerable, and that does not even account for the glut of ancient ruins that seem to speckle every malm. Left behind by so many civilizations that thought they could have it all, and their inevitable fall. Camlann, despite its notable size, is just the newest set of shattered castles and sundered cities.
While humans are not the only species in the world, many of the most ancient ruins upon the Continent bely the existence of many more that there has been no sign of outside the ancient, dusty, archeological remains found in the soil of Avallus.
