The Crowneater Sect

There is only one rule in this world, and it is the rule of power. Some have power over the many, and no matter the pretty words used to explain and defend that power, it is an abuse for that disparity to exist at all.

Only when all are equal, and no one person has power over any other, will the world be just.

Every man a king, every man a thrall.

Everyone chafes when they are not in charge of themselves, even those that require more direction than others. Your government makes a decision that you do not agree with, your boss tells you to do something that you do not wish to, your spouse expects you to do something that wasn't discussed. It's an understandable feeling. Humans are willful creatures, used to their freedoms after all, but there are a few out there that respond... poorly, to such inconveniences.

There are many anarchist groups in operation across the globe, and many upon Avallus itself that rebel against the thoughts of kings and governments for myriad reasons, though many remain so specific that they'll never achieve more than a few dozen members. One gathering of anarchists, however, have had notable staying power with one simple goal:

To even the scales of power completely, with no one in charge of anything but themselves. That is the creed of the group that calls itself the Crowneaters. They aren't against monarchy, nor nascent democracy, but against the very structures of society themselves and they work towards tearing them to the ground, attracting the politically volatile, the desperate, and the deranged to their banner in surprising numbers.

Structure

The Sect notably maintains two groups, it's militant arm and an ironic political arm, though it's more of an open secret that these two groups, who share the same name, are in fact related. One claims ignorance from the other, and there is no overlap in membership. Even former members of either stay away from the other.

Public perception of the Crowneaters seems to be generally popular, as their arguments are often couched behind logic and bolstered with a heavy amount of personal pride, though as the Sect becomes more and more aggressive with their tactics, most people are far more hesitant to throw their full support behind the group, but even so many still harbor secret loyalties. It can be assumed that there are cells and sympathizers in most major cities, and even in the minor ones.
