Moonstone Collar
"Very funny. No really. Can't you see my amusment? A collar for the dog, right? Really funny, I promise. Now why don't you come over here so I can show you exavtly how funny I find- Oh. You're serious? Couldn't you have just made it a bracelet, or even a plain necklace?"
Moonstone is a notoriously reactive material in magical workings, particularly in the department of protection. Used as a component, it can increase one's ability to deflect and absorb exponentially more negative effects, curses, and the like. It's also an incredibly stable base for enchantments, no matter how it's worked into a piece, be it a weapon or an accessory.
These two effects allow for the construction of the therianthropes' most useful tool: the "Moonstone Collar", Sections of moonstone inlaid in a necklace, then heavily enchanted to absorb the magics that drive the unwanted changes brought about by various curses. Werewolves, rare as they are on the Continent, are the most common recipients of Collars, or other various forms of the same concept.
While the actual making of a Moonstone Collar is not difficult, it's not something that can be done by an apprentice. Should someone on the frontier contract one of the many transformative curses out there, it's likely that their local doctor/cleric/shaman/etc, would have to write the nearest hospital to have one made to specification.
As with all magical materials, one can only get so much use out of moonstone before it cracks and eventually becomes dust. Unlike many magical examples, moonstone is also incredibly easy to cleanse of the effects that it's absorbed with a simple ritual. This remains true even when used for a Collar, ensuring that the curse can't escape its binding either.
