Drakehound

The largest species of canine on the Continent, Drakehounds are named for the task they were bred for; and have the distinct honor of being bred intentionally by King Gowyr himself. They have become somewhat rare in the time after the fall of Camlann.

They are preposterously big when fully grown, and it's believed that the Drakehounds that were in the royal stables of Camlann were much bigger, their growth aided by magical feed and skilled hands.

The descendants of King Gowyr's personal Drakehound, Caudros, are part of the "Royal" breed, and while there is some variation in color and pattern, they can be identified through a particular pattern within the irises and a sort of birthmark that manifests on the top of their skull and trails down the spine to the base of the tail. It does not appear above the fur, and one must be looking for it to notice it.
