Descriptrix
In the deepest currents of the Pangiopolis counter-cultural movements, there have developed whispers of someone known only as the Descriptrix. This legendary figure is believed by many to be a titanic visionary of art and culture. Both artist and masterpiece, it is foretold that her divine artistic drive and energy will shift the paradigm of thinking, slowly at first and in small ways, but always expanding like ripples along the surface of a pond.
As with all myths, it is difficult to nail down the origin of the story. Some sources say it has always existed, some say it is only a metaphor for "creativity" or what was once called "the muse(s)." Some believe that the myth refers to an actual person who lived, or may be living, or might yet be born.
In some circles, it is a title rather than a person, but always denotes a revolutionary feminine spirit of balance. Both an excellent leader and a follower. Both an artist and a work of art. The instrument and the composition.
A perfect representation of the collaboration and interconnectedness of art and all things, in all times, in all places.
Despite the transformations within the story's presentations and representations one of its core grains is always a feeling of hope and resilience associated with new perspectives, new understanding, and new ideas. The Descriptirix is a force of radical change toward equity and justice, both as an idea and as an ideal.
She is represented as a bare-breasted figure holding either a comedy or a tragedy mask to her face with her left hand, and an elegant glass pen in her right hand. The most prominent display of this mythical being stands atop the arch of Challengia's southern gate.
Don't make me go all Descriptrix and tell you things about you that you don't know.
