Reincarnation

Reincarnation is a religious belief held by many of the Hallowed Faith, especially amongst those of the Brynic and Doric traditions. The belief is evidenced from the most central of texts and stories related to the faith, especially the tale of how Turmoniin the Betrayer would be resurrected by the god Mukko to serve his agenda in the physical realm, establishing the gods' ability to brings souls back from the dead. However, Turmoniins case is more of an outlier, with more obscure tales referring to gods bringing back the souls of saints and devout worshippers in the form of trees, animals or even inanimate artefacts such as tools or weapons. It is often this last instance that sparks the interest of the religious, many claiming to have artefacts containing the resurrected souls of deceased famous individuals, King Altti "the Silver King" for instance claimed his sword was inhabited by the soul of Valtuutettu who had slain the demon Dartavoss.   These beliefs often manifest themselves in the burial rituals of the faithful, in Doria it is particularly common for graves to have specially carved headstones the whistle in the wind, in the hopes that the souls of the departed may be able to return to the physical realm in the form of the decorative headstone and communicate with their loved ones. As many leave many other items and trinkets at the gravesites of their loved ones, these items sometimes being of great value, the burial gardens are often victim to the lowest form of thievery. Though of course, it is rare as the practice of leaving items at the grave is a holy tradition, such robberies still occur and has led to religious institutions or sometimes local authorities hire guards known as the Kuonava.
