Marshal Reko of Ashcastle
Marshal Reko Surharka
Reko was born into the family of Surharka, a famous noble house bannered to the house of Maijalan. While many of the other families that had been loyal to the Maijalans had found themselves gradually fall into the lower classes of noble heritage, the Surharka dynasty had managed to keep their renown and property even after the widespread revocation of titles and land held by the Maijalan and their allies that occurred after the Succession of the Suns War. This was largely due to much of the family also holding titles within the Duchy of the Dales which, even before separation with the rest of Doria, has a great deal of autonomy from the Grand Duchy, allowing for those of the family which had retained their titles and land to support those from central Doria who had been displaced. Reko's father was Lord Mustilaht, which allowed Reko a childhood of great quality education and extensive networking, by the time he had become a man, he was well known amongst the local nobility as a headstrong and intelligent young man.
Reko would become something of a local legend in his feats in duelling. He was fond of participating in duelling competitions held at the Tammelas of Doria, travelling extensively to do so. This reputation would serve him well, as by the time he would inherit the title of Lord of Mustilaht, his overlord Surcount Garret of Ashcastle would grant Reko the title of Marshal of Ashcastle, trusting in the young lord's exceptional leadership qualities and prowess in combat.
