Amalia Annanhart was born into a great noble house of the northern kingdom of Duramir, despite this, she would eventually find herself centre to the politics of the southern Grand Duchy of Canyndor. Through the old links that had tied the northern and southern lands of Duramir and Canyndor since the times of Tapani VII, Amalia would find herself as a courtier amongst the higher noble courts of the Grand Duchy. She would catch the eye of the then heir to the Grand Duchy, Arttu Ilkitala, and they would become partners shortly before the death of Arttu's father, Grand Duke Tapani VII. Though Arttu's reign would prove disastrous to the state of the realm, especially in his ill-fated War with Aijia, Amalia was immensely popular with the nobility and common folk, even acting as protector of the realm when her husband was at war with his marshal.
Amalia, as a native of Duramir, brought many cultural differences to Doria that she was keen to share. As an avid writer, Amalia quickly took to learning the Doric language and had several works published largely based upon etiquette and social management that were quite popular amongst the nobility. In current times, Amalia has come to be known as the Dowager Duchess, a title of respect for her that infers her great importance to the Grand Duchy, referring to her as a Duchess despite not holding any such titles of that rank. Amalia now spends her time gently influencing the flow of power throughout the Grand Duchy, her advanced age not affecting her charm and grace, often retreating to her home of Nuonela Palace in the Doric Mountains.
