Corsair Kings
This group of raiders banded together long ago to become the Corsair Kings. Ruled by ten families and with a hundred smaller families vying for power this collective values wealth and skill over any other attributes. The Corsair Kings live on the Isle of Rasht and with most based in the city which takes the same name.
While they were originally cruel pirates, industry and expertise have moulded them into a slick organisation. Each 'King/Queen' has dominion over the collection of specific resources, their vessels tactics and training reflect this focus. While the heads of the houses are fabulously wealthy they still compete, this is generally through ritualised piracy, where competing ships seek to outmanoeuvre their opponents and take their ships with minimal damage.
While grudges and raids are carried out between the groups they have mostly settled down over the centuries. For the Corsair Kings danger tends to come from within, with the internal politics of each Corsair family offering a minefield of allegiances and animosity.
