Chief of Public Outreach at Blackwell Fisheries

A newly created position at Blackwell Fisheries, the Chief of Public Outreach has become the main point of contact for the company. Controlling the flow and spin of information, the CPO takes interviews, organizes events and educational events, while deflecting the difficult questions and burying uncomfortably true accusations. The current Chief of Public Outreach is a man named Thomas Murtens, who has already excelled at cleaning up the image of Blackwell Fisheries.

Requirements

In order to succeed at this job, one must have a quick mind and a strong memory for a web of lies and half-truths. Having a bland voice and plain face assist, helping to bore television viewers and listeners. Thomas Murtens has paired these traits with an affectation of slightly confused bumbling, maximizing the evasiveness of any answers given.

Responsibilities

Most of the duties for this position involve softening the image of the company. The fishery has had numerous accidents, chemical spills, and worse, drawing the ire of Red Oak Bluffs citizens. More important than doing things right is convincing people that the company has done no wrong, which the current Chief of Public Outreach has excelled at. The CPO oversees all documents and newsletters that may reach the town, and works to maintain a tightly controlled narrative of environmental protection and careful science. When good press is needed, the Chief of Public Outreach organizes tours of the fishery and laboratories, as well as children's events that paint the company in a good light.

Benefits

The Chief of Public Relations is paid quite well, and has the full backing of the Blackwell Fisheries company resources. The position puts the CPO in contact with the local politicians and journalists almost constantly, allowing for some strategic friendships to form.
