Magic Cancellation Devices

Anti-Magic Devices, or Magic Cancellation Devices, are a wide array of tools that prevent the usage of magic either by individuals using or wearing them or in an area. Their usage is widespread across the world, but use often heavily restricted to those highly trained and trusted to do so.   A common use of the technology is in law enforcement to prevent detainees or prisoners from using magic intended to do harm or escape. Most courthouses, political buildings, and certain wards of hospitals will use area of effect anti-magic devices to prevent attack on staff or public figures. Hospitals in particular often use the technology in smaller areas, usually limited to the patient, when anesthetics are wearing off after surgical procedures, as patients can often mistakenly use magic on accident or cause harm in the confusion caused by certain drugs.   There is a black market for the technology, in which magic cancellation devices are fashioned into ordinary items such as clothing and jewelry. Most use these illegally obtained items for personal protection, such as gang and mafia leaders to prevent attacks on themselves, but they have also been used for terrorism in the past, hence being outlawed in most regions.

The manufacturing process for the technology is a closely guarded secret, and production of them outside of official sanctioned operations is highly illegal.
