Boon of the Lyre

Effect

The boon will allow any user to temporarily learn to play any string instrument they desire at an expert skill level, as well as any piece of music they wish to perform while it is active. Under the boon's effects, the musician will play with perfect pitch, clarity, and timing for as long as they continue to use it or until dispelled. This includes becoming immune to ordinary distractions. Unlike boons from Fiona, what the user has learned by using the boon becomes knowledge they retain even after the boon has been cancelled, however, only for what the musician has actually performed themselves while it was in use.

Side/Secondary Effects

Similarly to the Boon of Finchesong, Appylon's boon also manifests with Divine Runic appearing on the user's body to prevent it from being used maliciously or to lie about one's own skill. This most commonly manifests as the wind, deer, soul, and sun runes on the user's hands and wrists, which cannot be hidden with clothing or makeup without nullifying the boon.   The boon cannot be used in tandem with any given by Fiona, God of Goldfinches by design, due to both gods designing their boons to conflict with and nullify those from their rival.

Source

The highest forms of the boon are granted by Appylon himself and strictly only to his own priests, temple workers, or those performing for him himself at festivals and holidays. This form of the boon appears to be permanent, as its users always have it active. Lower forms of the boon are permitted to be granted by his priests however, and oftentimes used for training other musicians, apprentices, and students in short bursts.   During the War of the Moon, just as Fiona has, Appylon appears to have modified the boon or designed another similar one to work in tandem with hers for those supporting the pantheon's forces. Unlike the boon's standard form, the more recent manifestations of it have been noted as granting its users proficiency with fine motor tasks that require the hands, and no exhaustion from doing them for extended periods of time. Whether or not this is a separate boon or the more formally known one is unknown, but it's speculated that due to the nature of the more recent form, they may be related and it gives insight into how the boon is actually manifesting- likely as a form of minor mind control granting Appylon's own proficiency and skill.

Divinely granted
Applied Restriction
Under ordinary circumstances, the boon will cancel out both itself and any boons from Fiona, God of Goldfinches, removing all such boons and itself from the user entirely.   The boon also only functions for stringed instruments- other instruments used while it is active will not grant any knowledge or skill beyond that of the user's own.
