Elise Bakuuva
Elise Bakuuva is a warrior and spell caster of Clan Vulfax, a clan primarily of Selenians. Despite having been a part of the clan since she was an infant and being well trained, she has not yet been converted into a Selenian. Like many of her allies, Elise is not of Clan Vulfax itself and was an outsider; though the circumstances of her birth are as of now unknown by the majority with it being said that her parents were killed during a Crusade Raid. She is currently under the wing of Lysander, one of the elites of the clan.
Despite being in the care of one of the elites, Elise is not always treated with respect by her peers. There have been many hardships during her time in Vulfax and through sheer determination to prove herself she has pressed on. Thus far she has served more of an administrative role within the clan, handling the smaller tasks and- pending situations, implementing strategies for dealing with outside small-scale threats. She has helped oversee the training of new recruits to the clan, and due to her standing 'mortal' genetics she has been used to interact with the humans for trade and information collection.
She is a cunning warrior. Though not at the level of the clan's elite-most fighters she has found numerous ways to make up for her weakness by use of strategy. She is also an avid reader, often collecting novels to read within the neighboring settlements to the valley.
Elise is a young girl of relatively average height and weight. Her complexion is pale, her appearance sometimes ragged. Generally her hair is split and rough, rather dull, due to a lack of 'proper' care as a result of her living condition. Her skin is relatively fair.
Generally she sports baggy clothes to cover up with and a long sleeveless jacket with a hood. While she most often wears these clothes for comfort she does also use them to carry and conceal different items.
In contrast to her clan, people who are generally warrior-centered if not vicious and outspoken- Elise is relatively quiet and self-contained. She often keeps her thoughts and emotions to herself unless they pertain to ongoing circumstances. This is true even among her closest allies at times. She is non-violent, if not borderline pacifistic most of the time.
She prefers books and dialogue to pointless battle and rage; though with that said she is good at conceiving battle strategies. This comes of her keen eye and perception of different people and environments pending different situations. While by no means a professional tactician, she is capable in managing the situations that her people most often face. As a result the elite of her clan often assign her to deal with minor issues that fail to warrant 'elite intervention' such as with mob raids and attacks by bandits. With this trust she is at times also asked to observe the progress and training of new recruits by the few who trust her judgment.
She is compassionate and caring even if it is not always given in return. She has gone out of her way to protect those not even from the clan from the dangers of the mountain. This is especially true with those she considers to be close friends and family. Atop this she often takes the bitter criticism and treatment of much of the clan without incident; though this is not to say that she will not bare her fangs at her own when pushed far enough.
When provoked or pushed proper Elise has lashed back, usually with the words of a viper rather than straight up brute force confrontation. Though the latter HAS happened it has been a rare showing from her. Part of this is perhaps due to her own inner darkness which weighs her down and keeps her contained. She is unusually harsh on herself when she feels as though she's failed to live up to her own expectations or the needs of her peers.
Elise is particularly well-versed with swordplay and martial arts. This is due to years of practice with intense determination, of which her closest comrades believe to be caused by the doubt bestowed upon her by her peers. Much of her training has been overseen by the joint efforts of the elites Lysander and Vulper, along with the former's own family. She has been known to train within and out of the clan, usually away from prying eyes.
Her strength is considerable due to her position within the clan as a chore girl. There have been days where she has had to haul gallons of water back many miles to her people. Not to mention the constant threat and need to defend against the creatures of the mountains has made her tough. With this she can also take a punch when necessary, able to fight with the likes of the Wulf'n Zaherian and even some low level Vampiric.
Worth noting- Elise is one of the few in the mountains capable of casting spells. This is due to special tomes which have been in her care since she was young, gifted to her by an unknown individual. Despite having years to learn these tomes she has mastery of few spells.
.In the pilot Elise is seen as a nuisance who can't fight and knows nothing about being a warrior. She however was a physical tank due to being a slave to the clan and having to lug prey animals and gallons of water around the forests for miles a day.
.In the pilot Elise quickly picked up on how to fight due to her own intelligence and already having the strength, as well as having good instructors. This is the in-universe explanation. The out-of-universe explantion is that the author didn't have enough time.
.Elise's favorite fruit is strawberries.
.Elise practices her fencing skills regularly because it is what Edmond taught her, and she believes it to be fun- like dancing.

Upbringing In Vulfax
There exists no record of what Elise's life was like before she was brought into Vulfax. Stories from the Clan Elite state that she was orphaned after an attack on another group by the Crusaders, after which she was found by members of Vulfax. At the age of 3-4 she was taken in by a warrior known as Edmond Telvax who raised her as his own. Her earliest memories, as far as she can recall, are of her and her adoptive parent trekking through the mountains of the Aureolas Basin Valley. Life would be normal within the clan for her first years as she was but one of many new outsiders in those years to join the clan. By age 5 she would begin to be instructed on what it meant to be a warrior of Vulfax, to fight and die for the clan. By age 6 she would begin getting normal tasks such as keeping the cave clean and fetching supplies from the storage room and so forth. And it was expected that by the time she turned 8 or 9 that she would begin her actual warrior training. While she was left to follow a strict regiment within the clan's walls meant to indoctrinate, her trips outside of it with Edmond were a different story. Away from prying ears she was taught different values- honor, compassion, kindness. Elise was taught to stand for those who can not stand for themselves, to fight not for the sake of battle itself but to instead protect. She was taught to uphold these values and believe in her path no matter what others might say. Such teachings were frowned upon for being unwarrior-like, and as such they were taught away from the rest of the clan. Despite having been a warrior of the clan for decades, Edmond could not let go of his past as a monk, holding these beliefs close no matter the ire he received because of them. And it was around this time that Elise had also begun to notice that distaste, due to her new perception. And so the routine would remain mostly the same. She would train, she would learn, she would go out, and she would repeat. Occasionally she would be overseen by others, such as the Elite Warrior known as Vulper. Though Vulper would make note of her change in rhetoric due to her adoptive father's secret teachings, he would make no mention of it to others of the clan. All remained a constant until around the time she turned 8 though. In the autumn of that year the Crusaders had been intensifying their attacks on the mountains to pacify the various clans. Multiple campaigns had been launched, wiping out monsters and mobs, and wounding dozens of different groups. During one such campaign Vulfax itself would be hit rather hard by these Crusaders. While they would prevail there were also many casualties. Despite early dread, Elise would come to find that her father figure was not among the dead... nor was he among the living. Edmond would not be there, having departed the clan on a mission earlier that day with a team. While expected to return, he would not; in fact none from his squad would return. The hours turned to days and finally up to a week. There would be no sign of Edmond or any of his allies. Search parties would be sent out though nothing would ever be found. At first it became speculation that his team had been wiped out by the Crusaders; though as questions were raised of how the Crusaders found Vulfax to begin with there came different beliefs. Some came to believe that perhaps the squad had been ambushed with its warriors being tortured for information. Others soon began to believe that it had in fact been an attack orchestrated by Edmond, the most non-warrior of Vulfax. An eventual search of his personal belongings revealed his origin as a monk, and in no time at all Edmond had been branded a traitor to be killed on sight. Whilst the rest of the clan hated Edmond for the belief that he had sold the clan out, Elise could not help but mourn for her fatherly figure and her fallen allies. Her training would later be picked up by another elite known as Lysander. With a different approach to her training, the ideals bestowed to her by the late Edmond began to surface more and more as she scraped edges trying to adapt to this new style. Others would begin to take notice and see this as weakness. Others would see it as Edmond having poisoned one of their own, perhaps even leaving behind a follower. Some would come forward and call for Elise's expulsion from Vulfax, fearing that she may have been compromised. Some would call for her immediate execution. Though nothing would come of any of it due to several elite backing her, such as Lysander and Vulper, the damage would be done. And so over the next few years she would begin to face discrimination from her peers. This intensified as bit by bit she began to reject the ideals of the clan. She would refuse missions that saw her attacking others. She would refuse to abide by a 'warrior code' and inflict carnage or death on those beneath her. By the time she was 11 she no longer wished to be turned into a Selenian as was expected of nearly every member of Vulfax. More and more she rejected the ways of her people, and more and more she would be hated. What risked being a breaking point by far and none though was her refusal to be turned; though fortunately for her she would be saved by quick action from Vulper. Vulper, one of the longest serving elites, would point out merit in using Elise's humanity. By his own words it was stated that a human loyal to Vulfax could move among the humans and allocate information, perhaps even open up trade that could prove a vital asset to the clan in the coming conflicts. And so Elise would from then on be used to learn about the actions of the Crusaders from neighboring human settlements, as well as to trade for goods and supplies. During these outings Elise would also pick up on the world of books. Having already been taught to read and write by Edmond, and with a thirst for knowledge, she took quick interest in reading the few scraps that she found. This eventually led her to the Edmonton Library where she would meet the Librarian Holly Bell. The two would become quick friends, with Holly teaching Elise about different genres and helping to further her reading ability. During this time she would also meet another to-be close friend, Toby Tazaki- a rogue from the valley staying near the town. By age 12 she would begin to invest herself once again in assisting the clan due to increased conflict with others, all due to the pressure of the Crusaders and arriving 'Rogue' Forces. She would use some of the knowledge she had read to devise strategies that would prove beneficial to the clan. Despite what she could offer the clan due to her different nature, she was still not trusted by many. The verbal and sometimes physical abuse continued well into the warring period, despite Elise involving herself in the conflict by fighting to defend the clan. Over the course of the first few months she would also encounter the Crusaders and be stunned by their use of 'magic' in battle. The use of magic cast by reading tomes would intrigue her greatly, and it would be during one of the following battles where she would attempt to cast magic of her own via a tome she had stolen. This use of magic would blindside the enemy and lead to a relatively easy victory for Vulfax; though again, her clan would move to distrust and despise her for her use of 'human magic'. As the battles carried on, so-to did her use of magic. She would practice it inside of and outside of battles, mastering some basics; though during one encounter the book would be lost to an enemy fire spell, ending her career as a caster temporarily. Days later, Vulper would present Elise with a tome unlike those of the Crusaders. A spellbook of powerful and basic magics, a book of instruction. He would not state its origins, saying only that it had always belonged to her. For the next few years she would continue to practice the few times she saw battle. Over the course of the next few years she would fall into routine once more. She would traverse the mountains on patrol for Vulfax, she would collect and distribute supplies, she would interact with the humans and trade, she would learn and practice, she would fight, she would take the clan's hatred, and she would continue.Character Facts
