Movorian White Desert, Sahurasuud
Pronunciation: mow-VOR-ian, SAW-her-RAS-sewd
Map Index: G7, H6, H7, H8, I5, I6, I7
Location: North central Centakus
Geography: The Movorian White Desert, also known as Sahurasuud in the Movori tongue, consists of an expansive wasteland of enormous ever shifting white sand dunes and dusty salt plains. This evocative wind-sculpted landscape continually evolves, presenting a mesmerizing yet deadly vista.
Frequent violent chaos storms, marked by eerie red and blue lightning, unleash a deadly magical fury upon the desert, accompanied by howling winds and thunderous roars. These unpredictable storms remain an ever-present threat, roaring through the land and shrouding everything in malignant corrupting energy.
Finally, haboobs, or great desert windstorms, turn daylight to darkness as they engulf the land in swirling clouds of sand and dust. Their full fury can last for hours to days, making all travel impossible.
Another hazard, dry quicksand patches, threaten to devour unwary travelers. Found in areas of duneland, this areas look completely normal until stepped in. Then the sandy ground suddenly gives way underfoot and the victim quickly sinks below the surface of the sand.

Climate: The desert's brutal climate and treacherous features make it a perilous expanse to visit. The brutally hot tropical sun fuels spikes in daytime temperatures that are deadly to life. The cursed nature of this land prevents any rainfall from falling on this land. Clouds are almost never seen and legends say that rain has not fallen in these deserts since the Great Cataclysm struck over a millenia ago.
Wildlife: In this harsh land, there is no wildlife to be found other than shorebirds along the coastline. With absolutely no surface water available, wildlife quickly perishes in this hot parched land.
Humanoids: Practically no humanoids have lived in this deadly cursed land since the Great Cataclysm. The Kasatha, desert adapted humanoids corrupted by the chaos storms, live at the edge of the White Desert and make brief sojourns into it.
Humanoid visitors sometimes stop for brief periods along the coast but dread of the great sand worms makes the visits short. An exception to this is the Fyr'kar Hulan, humanoid aberrations who live on the border between the Red and White Deserts. These highly intellgent humanoids live in cavernous complexes and have found a way to survive in this forsaken sandy wilderness.
Monsters: Great danger lurks beneath the surface of what appears to be a peaceful sandy landscape. Colossal sized sandworms, capable of swallowing a large camel whole, lurk beneath the dunes. These monsterous beasts move unseen beneath the dunes, as if they were great oceanic creatures swimming in the sand. The only sign of their approach is a strange vibration of the sand which begins to sing what is referred to as the song of the worm. The size of the incoming worm can be estimated by the pitch of the vibration. The lower the note, the larger the worm. Sand drakes and electric sand eels also present danger to the unprepared.
History: At one time consisting of sandy sea bottom off the coast of the Movorian Empire, titanic forces unleased during the Great Cataclysm thrust a vast area of shallow sea bottom upward so that it was uplifted above sea level.
Today: The Movorian White Desert's history is a tragedy of disastrous transformation. Once a powerful thriving empire, it now stands as a testament to the Great Cataclysm's power to inflict utter devastation. Its great sand dunes, relentless windstorms, and dangerous corrupted inhabitants serve as haunting reminders of a world forever altered by cataclysmic forces.
