Geography: The feared Goraukoros Mountains, a formidable volcanic range in central eastern Beorlan, are a daunting sight for any traveler brave enough to venture near their treacherous expanse. Secondary Population: None
Minor Population: None
Climate: In the north, short grasses, and semitropical scrub vegetation cling to the lower slopes, while ascending higher into the mountains, the vegetation transitions to a mix of scrubby plants and small trees. In the more arid south, desert scrub vegetation and cactus live on the lower mountain slopes, changing to a mix of tropical scrub vegetation at higher altitudes.
Wildlife: With the great change in rainfall between the northern and southern parts of the range, the amount of wildlife also differs. In the north, black pathers, longhorn goats, and jackals navigate the lower areas while eagles and vultures soar above the land. In the south, far fewer wild animals call the mountains home due to the increasing arid conditions as you go south.
Humanoids: Tribes of draconic humanoids, living on the lower slopes of the mountains adjacent to the Urwaelin Valley, often visit the dragons to worship them and do their bidding. The goblins of Gok Grusmak also journey into the mountains, bringing tribute to the dragons that live in the southern end of the range.
Monsters: Wise travelers avoid these mountains due to their treacherously dangerous reputation. Three ancient dragons and numerous young dragons call these mountains home. The depths of the mountains also harbor even more fearsome horrors, as malevolent creatures of tremendous evil lurk in the unexplored dark crags. Many of these creatures are products of the chaos storms that once swept through the mountains during the Great Cataclysm.
History: These mountains, wracked by great earthquakes and plagued by chaos storms, suffered much during the Great Cataclysm. The ancient dragons that call these mountains home took shelter in their great underground lairs and managed to survive the great catastrophe.
Today: This mountain range continues as a dangerous place to visit. Unless one seeks to slay a dragon in its lair, they are best to be avoided.
