Falcon's Roost
The formidable main defence and castle at the heart of the bastion town of Iminiyas - Falcon's Roost is a defensive and civic structure built by House Gildaron to exert their control across their holdings and hold back any invaders into Asrinheim. After facing heavy destruction at the end of the War of the Great Houses, Falcon's Roost became the home of the civilian Elder Council of Iminiyas and occasionaly the residence of an appointed governor sent by House Ardiylir. As of Duskfall, 1052, 3e, the Roost is now residence to its most infamous ruler, Mothrar Gildaron, once again.
Built and expanded upon since the Mythic Age, the Roost is an ancient structure that has been well maintained for its age and size. For centuries, it was the most powerful fortress in all the Aedrinaran Islands, but has slowly been ecclipsed by castles such as Knut's 's Keep in Odinsthrone or The Palace of Heroes in Jameleska.
The keep was taken in a matter of hours by Mothrar Gildaron during his coup, and was assaulted again by The Suicide Squad where its gates and old wing were damaged by fighting between the infiltrators and garrison. The Piper is still in residence here, expanding the power of the Dragon Clan across Northern Asrinheim.

Purpose / Function
Falcon's Roost stands as the main coastal defence and bastion of Northern Asrinheim. Built close enough to the sea, spell snipers or heavy weaponary can shoot from its formidable stone walls into any fleet in the Bay of Iminiyas or Falcon Sound, as well as into the surrounding flatlands that form the most convinent marching pathway between the rest of northern asrinheim towards the unofficial capital of Thevensyne.
Alongside this military function, Falcon's Roost also serves as a civic centre of government. After the war of the Great Houses the function of this government and its role within the castle grew. The new elders and Ardiylir governors of the town increasedthe employment of numerous civil servants and tax collectors and performed rennovation of former barracks or ballrooms into offices. Since Gildaron's return, the keep has lessened this function as Elder Mothrar centralizes power around themselves and The Dragon Clan.
Alterations
The earliest form of Falcon's Roost was a considerably smaller keep of simple stone and wooden or ice walls. Still a key line of defence against raids by the Cult of the Forgotten Gods, after the assencion of the Honoured Gods the keep could devote new resources and time into expanding it. By the time of the Jotun-Vaniri War, what is now the south wing, or old wing, of the keep was fully constructed.
At some point during the age of isolation, possibly around 340, 1e, the original curtain walls were torn down and impressive, thick stone walls were constructed that linked to the wider walls of the town of Iminiyas. The Gildaron's opted to use physical material as it was more accesible than using magical resources, and not sussusceptible to any anti-magic properties. Furhter expansions into the cellars and the addition of what is now the ballroom and mage tower were made during this time as well.
Further growth occured during the Third Kingdom of Aedrinar when the Ice Elves were tributaries of their human neighbours. Elder Haristar Gildaron the Bold expanded the defences, thickened the walls, and turned smaller watchtowers into the grand stone towers they are now.
Harristar's heir, Taeron, would construct the new wing, including the grand throne room and baths as well as new apartments for the Gildaron family and guests. Alterations to the ground, including the remodelling of the gardens, addition of new stables after a fire, and construction of a castle only smiths were also pioneered in the second age.
The keep would be heavily damaged during the War of the Great Houses. As the citizens of Iminiyas opened the gates to the Ardiylirs and Salinirs, Gildaron Loyalists rained fire upon the castle and town. Swathes of the new wing were destroyed, and the former grand libarary completely obliterated as well as the mage tower. The new elders would slowly reconstruct this, with the last of the fire damage not being repaired until 419, 3e. It was during this time rennovations would turn most of the new wing into a centre of government, and maintained the former apartments as the residence for an Ardiylir Governor if one was sent.
Defenses
Falcon's Roost is a formidable keep. It's 100ft high curtain walls, made of slick and icy stone make climbing a difficulty. Although the walls themselves are long and hard to patrol, the permenantly manned watchtowers keep an eye on all potential assencions by invaders or infiltrators, with warhorns to alert the garrison to anyone making their way up. Supplies of arrows are left around these walls for archers and crossbowmen.
There is only one main gate to the keep, barred by a portcullis and iron and wooden gates. This choke point, with murder holes and oil channels, makes a frontal assault on this week point dangerous and costly, as The Suicide Squad would discover.
The keep itself has numerous exterior walkways, manned by constantly patrolling archers and veterans. The main entrance to the raised keep is focused around a killzone of archery points across three storeys.
Also positioned around the keep and curtain walls are catapults and large ballistae and scorpians. During the reign of the Gildarons, trebuchets were also stationed along structures pointing out to the Bay of Iminiyas with the intention of destroying any attacking fleets.
History
The Long Halloween Arc
Falcon's Roost was assaulted by the Suicide Squad on the orders of Mr. Blake, Jarl Naerfi Oath-Knee, and Refid Wintershield. At the time, the main Dragon Clan agents in Northern Asrinheim were all in attendence and the guild leaders wanted to provide their names to Doomed 2 Die. The mission, although costly, was a success.
