These insects look like centipede, and they will crawl along the ground until they find a valuable target. They appear to be commanded by some other force, possibly the Festerfont itself.
Inis’s research into Festerfont “marking” reveals that it is a secondary marking mechanism that selects targets for this variant.
Once a target is found, the Blightbeast will coil around it and then trigger a chain reaction in the segments of its body. First the tail segment will expand and glow [violet], then each segment on a path to the head will do the same. When the final segment, the head, has expanded and begun to glow, the creature will emit a high-pitch whine and detonate to swathe the area in deep purple flames. These flames will linger, sustaining themselves on an oil from the creature before it either catches the target on fire or it exhausts itself.
