Daemon

Daemons are spiritual manifestations of concepts that originate from The Shroud but can become corporeal and walk the physical plane. Typically for this to happen they are either summoned or are drawn to something that takes place. They are immortal, monstrous spirits whose essence is entirely made up of magic and are built upon concepts such as wisdom, bravery, chaos, anger, depression, lust, etc.   Once referred to as daimons by the Greek, it was believed that they were a kind of deity existing between mortals and gods. The study of daemons have since proved that they are not deities at all, and more closely related to spirits. Some get them confused with demons who are fallen angels in the Abrahamic religion. Though Christians may believe daemons to actually be demons, they are not the same thing. Daemons are not inherently evil, nor do they even have the same concepts of morals that sentient beings have, hence why there is no daemon to cover the concept of evil or good. A Chaos Daemon may be seen as evil due to its actions but it can easily perform actions that may be seen as good. It should also be noted that just because a daemon appears horrendous in nature, it does not mean it is evil.

Basic Information

Genetics and Reproduction

Shockingly, and yet not shocking enough, is that daemons can actually reproduce with sentient creatures. Those who have had said relations have been questioned by scholars and doctors alike to better understand not only the process but the consequences that may befall an individual. So far, little has been truly found out besides the basic understanding that they are able to reproduce if conditions are properly met.   It appears that they do not experience sexual or romantic attraction which as caused many to argue whether or not intercourse is consent. A few of the daemons that have been questioned have shown curiosity in the action and even some seem to have truly seemed to possess feelings and emotions that would prove past assumptions wrong. Due to every daemon being uniquely different, it is possible to never understand motives.   Those who can conceive have given birth to hybrids that have taken an appearance mix of both parents. They are corporeal and mortal with little similarities to the daemon parent. The only true similarity revolves around the daemon's concept. All daemon hybrids seem to possess an affinity towards said concept. Easily prone to the emotion or action, living their lives around the idea, or constantly drawn to it.

Dietary Needs and Habits

They feed off of their concept which is believed to be their core. For this reason, daemons are drawn to surges or areas that are swelling with their concepts. For example, a Rage Daemon will be drawn to a battlefield. Due to their immortality, it is not known if they can starve or if a lack of feeding just results in them being weaker.

Behaviour

Daemons as a whole are very curious. When mortals enter the shroud they will naturally gravitate towards them just to see what may be going on. Otherwise, they are quite docile and have been seen just existing in one place. They wander aimlessly in the shroud, sometimes walking or floating without any true destination. Though they are fully capable of speech, many don't seem to speak and interact with other daemons. Even more, they have been witnessed to even prefer the company of spirits over their own kin.   When summoned into the corporeal world, they are a lot more energetic. Upon being summoned, they are typically weak and disoriented, needing a few days to recover. Afterwards, they will be far more active and dangerous. A summoned, uncontrolled daemon can level cities and murder hundreds.
