Takakubo
Demographics
Takakubo's residents are mostly Heiyan with a few Narscillians who seasonally drive their caravan to the town. During the Dragon Cusades there was a group of Anidinian soldiers left in what was once just Takakubo's iron fortress. Some of those soldiers stayed after the war, so many of Takakubo's residents have darker hair and eyes than their Heiyan brethren.
Government
Military tradition runs deep in Takakubo. The three most influential families in the town elect a general once every ten years. That general has complete authority over the settlement.
Defences
Takakubo fortress is visible far in the horizon. Its walls are nigh impenetrable, as it was designed to withstand dragons. The leaders of the town have maintained an impressive food and water store within the castle, so it is invulnerable in a siege.
Industry & Trade
Takakubo trades with Kohama for water and Acino for vegetables. Takakubo has no source of water on its own, so it relies on Kohama for this. In exchange, Takakubo's soldiers patrol the road between the two cities.
Anyone travelling to Doragonreiku from the South passes through Takakubo, so there are plenty of inns and taverns to house the travelers.
Infrastructure
Infrastructure in Takakubo is glaringly absent. The citizens live very closely to how their ancestors did in the grassland, never benefiting from the expertise of city planners or architects.
Guilds and Factions
- House Tabasi: A family descendant from the Anidinian soldiers who built Takakubo. They are the wealthiest family in the settlement, dominating trade on the crossroads.
- House Yuna: A family dedicated to agriculture, the Yunas own almost all the livestock and employ most of the farmers in the town.
- House Miya: A line of warriors blending the techniques of the Torans and Anidinans.
Architecture
Takakubo fortress is an imposing iron castle forged by Akil and his ferromancers during the Dragon Crusades. It sports the Gredoran style of domes, spires, and intricate twisting metal designs.
Natural Resources
The people of Takakubo have learned rudimentary animal husbandry. A few primitive livestock pens dot the town. What the town lacks in meat it makes up in grains. Farmers harvest the bountiful natural grains around their settlement. Takakubo is known for its breads.
