Children of The Grimm Hound
A faith born out of the macabre life of many in the nation of Gravlyn, one that worships many spirits but there is one held above all others, Grimm The Hound. A spirit that is said to be the guardian of all those who knows true grief. Since its creation in the Age of Shadows, it grew quickly in that time of sorrow, even for a time growing into a theocratic state and one of the main participants of The War of Three Beasts. Its power has, of course, waned since then as it finds itself at odds with the church and religious institutes of The Magistrate as the later has not always been kind on its old enemy.
Public Agenda
They wish to spread the word of Alin and Grimm the hound
Assets
Across much of the world, little more than numerous followers and their small churches. In the Nation of Gravlyn, they still control a number of the temples. Their strength is often not in their resources but their numbers and faith.
History
Founded during the early days of the Age of Shadow and grew rapidly in size establishing a foothold in numerous parts of the world, it would even establish a theocratic state that found itself in control of numerous older states via church influence. The War of Three Beasts would begin during a border dispute and misinformation that saw one of the towns under the control of the Theocracy was attacked. The war would rage for centuries but in the end they lost and the church was shattered. It would continue on in a minor weakened state for many more years, until the Magistrate took control of the nation of Gravlyn centuries after their first conflicts. Since then the faith has been in almost constant subtle conflict with the empire that rules it.
The roads of the empire, however, has allowed the faith to take took root in nations that were not connected directly to Gravlyn. Spreading the word of the old faith wherever despair is great or sentiment against the Magistrate is strong.
Divine Origins
Perhaps the most humble of origins. A young gravish boy named Alin came out of the forest near his village after going missing. He would speak of a young wolf cub that he has accidentally deathly injured and tried to save, he would fail and bury the beast. When its pack came to hunt Alin, the spirit of the pup would defend him due to the grief in his heart and willingness to make up and sacrifice for his mistake. He would take up the image of the pup as a protector of his family and spirit that had to be honored, it is said it changed the boy into a man for which kindness had no limit and would preach to people the philosophy that he was developing. Alin would often walk into the forest and claim to speak with the wolf that he named Grimm. The man would gain quite the following in his village and even as he died in old age a new generation would take up his faith and began to spread it and integrate it will the local faiths of Gravlyn.
Tenets of Faith
The core of humanity is good, have hope. Grief is not something to be hidden or taken in solace, always take up the burden of pain to help another. All life is precious and if you must take it, for food or defense, show it true respect and true sorrow and it will forgive you. Have no hate for the dead, no matter their crime. Death comes for us all, fear the end not your death but the pain you will cause others. Leave no business of love or family unfinished. A hound is the truest friend of man, treat them like the brother of your own blood. Be patient for all your mistakes and humble in all your accomplishments,
Worship
To be humble in temper and to be forgiving of others. Form bonds with that which is different from you, whether man or animal. One should leave small tributes in time of prosperity at the edge of a forest so you might feed the spirits, makeshift shines are usually built for this although they are not needed. A hound who passes should be buried among the dead so it might guard them and not be lonely in death.
In autumn after towns final harvest is collected they begin, a small festival is held but after that, the people who have plenty are meant to fast so that the spare food they have might be collected to feed those in need those in need throughout winter.
