Disaster / Destruction
Humans expand to the stars after overpopulating the flooded Earth, terraforming Mars. In the process, new and powerful resources are discovered.
Humanity's population continues to skyrocket, with fewer people dying daily due to the blessing of Caelus that triples the lifespan of the average man. Soon enough, Earth's limited terrain becomes overpopulated, causing a need for new land. American aeronauts come up with a solution, designing the first colonizer starship under the title of The Mayflower. With an experimental terraformer in tow, the small team aboard hoped to transform the harsh environment of Mars into a hospitable world for humans. Upon deployment, the machine releases a pocket of air similar to the atmosphere on Earth, which slowly envelops all of Mars. The energy required rivals any machine on Earth, though the effort proves to be a success. With the Martian surface becoming a new Earth, the first spaceport sees the light of day, offering relatively quick transport to and from the interplanetary colony. After the success of mankind's first terraformer, large companies begin efforts to colonize new planets to permanently leave their mark on the universe. The United Earth Confederation forms at this time to serve as a central guidance point for all humans throughout the solar system. With the group newly formed, there are few laws and treaties to aid those on other planets, resulting in plenty of territory disputes off Earth. Mercury is the next planet to be terraformed, turning into a garden planet. The second iteration of a terraformer proved far more effective than the original device used on Mars. Mining operations are brought into fruition, as many are curious as to what type of rarities can be found on the new planets. Oplite and Thaumite are amongst one of the new highly coveted resources discovered, the former being a highly resistive material. The second is utilized in weaponry, after the ore shows how flammable and destructive its proven to be during testing.
