Vinculum of Discovery

The Vinculum of Discovery is an Earth faction that is known for its curiosity, invention, and open approach to new phenomenon, most notably Caelus. Established prior to the cataclysm in New Cali that resulted in the spread of Ardor Radiation and Caelus, the Vinculum of Discovery was known for pioneering new technologies throughout the 22nd century that made humanity an effective spacefaring race.   The VoD is seen as an eccentric, though highly effective faction. Much of what propels VoD membership are curious, aspiring minds that seek to unravel deeper secrets of the universe that humanity has come to know, for better or worse. Additionally, the supplementary goal of preserving acquired knowledge has given the faction a two-fold purpose: to learn more about Earth's and humanity's past, and what they will do for the future.   It is no surprise that much of the other factions on Earth find the VoD to be odd. With their members adopting names of Greco-Roman inspiration and an antiquated, mystical aesthetic covering everything from their uniforms and ranks to personal culture, members of the VoD have little to relate with the rest of the world.   An antithetical rival faction known as the Mobile Purification Unit stands in opposition to the VoD and has throughout both of their histories. Currently, much of the VoD's operations center around countermeasures against the MPU's offensive strategies.  

Structure

The VoD is divided into several departments, all bearing different responsibilities and functions. However, these departments fall under two main branches: Discovery and Recovery. The Branch of Discovery is responsible for ushering in new knowledge and unraveling secrets and innovative technology, while the Branch of Recovery unearths and maintains knowledge of the past. It is not uncommon for several VoD projects to require cooperation from multiple departments, sometimes between both branches.   Branch of Discovery Departments

Responsible for continued study and innovation around Earthen and space flight.

Institute of Magitechnology

Responsible for continued study and innovation of Caelus-infused engineering projects.

Ministry of New Philosophies

Responsible for the advancement of Vinculum ideals and humanities projects.

Academy of Caelus Studies

Responsible for the advancement of knowledge and practice in Caelus arts.     Branch of Recovery Departments

Responsible for the rediscovery of ancient artifacts and history.

School of Preservative Studies

Responsible for maintaining artifacts, assets, and knowledge to perfection, as well as archiving on digital mediums.

Ministry of Old Philosophies

Responsible for maintaining memory and understanding of old poetry, treatises, values, and works of art.

Academy of Natural Studies

Responsible for maintaining knowledge of natural law, principles, and scientific phenomena.   Non-Branch Departments
