Chrona
History
Founding
Discovery
Discovered by sheer accident by a House Chronis Vessel called The Horizon. The Horizon was the first of its kind, built in the year 782 BTS, it was created to start exploring the Endless Ocean. It found Chrona Isle after a storm had taken it off course. The ship sails were damaged and needed repairs, so they started charting the Isle for the duration of the repairs. Using the stars to travel back to the mainland, they brought the news directly to House Chronis.
Establishment
Founded in the year 780 BTS as the first colony of the Asti Empire into Terra Nova. House Chronis was given approval by the Emperor at the time and became their foothold into Terra Nova. Having free rein on its development, House Chronis named the colony Chrona after themselves.
Asti Civil War
The Begining
During the year 440 BTS, The launch of the largest Civil War known had begun. The death of the Emperor left no clear successor and controller of Terra Nova. Thus Chrona was left in the hands of House Chronis.
Chronis Escape
During the early days of the Asti Civil War, the House Chronis abandoned their ancestral lands for their safety in the new world. They became a neutral territory during the Civil War for they had no longer any ties to Mundus Vetus.
Lost Contact
In the year 428 BTS, the Archways to the ancient lands began closing one after another. Chrona's Archway closed in 427 BTS leaving no quick route besides ships. Ships traveling to Terra Nova became rare over the course of 2 years and during the last year, they almost never came. Majority of them were being rerouted to replenish the fallen warships. 424 BTS, all contact is lost.
Independence
After a year of no contact or message from Mundus Vetus, the House Chronis took it upon themselves to govern and stabilize their situation. 2 years of governance let them realize no one is coming, leading them to declare Independence from the Asti Empire and name themselves a Free City.
Early Years
Famine
During the first few years of independence, the Free City of Chrona struggled to maintain a food supply with the other colonies of Terra Nova for they were not large enough to supply the vast population of Chrona. This led to riots and crime to run rampant across the City except for the Noble district because the private military of House Chronis ensured its safety. After a year of unrest, the commoners make a push for the noble district resulting in countless deaths for the commoners. The Nobles, infuriated by this display of disloyalty make demands to House Chronis to enforce martial law. House Chronis is forced to act upon The Nobles request and start slaughtering any disloyal or disruptive civilians. This goes on for 2 years until the population reaches to such a low count that it manages to feed itself after.
Support
The City is forced to seek help from the now developed colonies for food and supplies, by promising to aid them in any militaristic needs required. Two Independent factions (Free City of Dris and Free City of Castulo) accept this Treaty and form Free Cities Accord.
The Accord
During the years of the Accord, Chrona prospered in military strategies, tactics, weapons and also in artisanal goods like pieces of jewelry, gems and luxurious clothing. This led to its rise as the Trade Capital of Terra Nova for it was well protected and served as neutral grounds.
Rise of The Chronis Jewel
Fall of Castulo
In the year 269 BTS, Castulo is declared war upon from another the Epris Republic which has been consolidating power in its local region. The armed forces of Chrona were about deployed to go defend they faithful ally but an envoy of Epris arrived beforehand. The Envoy secured a deal with the House Chronis to not intervene in the subjugation of Castulo for promises of non-aggression and a one-sided defensive pact. This led to the dismantling of the Free Cities Accord.
Trade Protection
With promises of non-aggression and defensive pact from the Epris Republic, more nations started promising the same pacts for Chrona, which proved to be a great trade partner and neutral grounds. This led to the new Treaty of The Protected Chrona Trade Agreement. It promised that Chrona would remain an Independent Nation and Trade Hub Capital, as long as it kept completely Neutrality in all matters political.
The Chronis Jewel
A large diplomatic embassy was built in the honor of the new Treaty, where every nation could have a representative assigned to have negotiations with other nations. This Embassy was named the Chronis Jewel, for it was the crowning jewel of Chrona.
