The Ashes

Infamous black market located in Ashborne. The market is a hub for criminal activity in the area. It is largely overlooked by law in the region thanks to some well-placed bribes and political connections. The organizations that run the Ashes make sure that any unsanctioned violence does not occur within Ashborne so it is relatively safe despite the large and well-known criminal element here. There are numerous temples to the Old Gods here as well. Many followers of these religions do so in private and the Ashes are a prime location for privacy.   The Ashes are run by three separate guilds with a tenuous treaty in place to ensure that everyone can continue to operate. The Undaunted Hand made a name for themselves as top-tier smugglers. They now transport nearly all of the illicit goods throughout the Crankwall region thanks to their vast network of teleportation circles and secret underground paths. The next guild came to power through the gathering of information and blackmail of people in power. Nothing goes on in the region without the Sorrow Syndicate knowing about it. If there is an extortion racket going on in the Crankwall region odds are the Syndicate is involved. They are the group most responsible for the current political structure of the Ashes. The final guild running the market is Fred's Boys, a group of assassins and brigands feared for their strength and aptitude for violence. Fred's Boys are utilized by the Ashes as muscle to keep them safe from rival gangs and the law. They are also responsible for a large portion of the high level political assassinations that have occurred in the past century.
