Inek's Crossing
This small ranching community lies on the island of Brightsor Refuge. The citizens here raise Baboda, large cow-sized isopods known for their delicious crab-like meat. A few times a year Inek's Crossing is visited by Lama Taesi, to collect taxes and exchange goods with the hamlet. The arrival is met with mixed emotions. The business-owning citizens tend to enjoy these visits and the tourism they bring. However, due to the high tax rate and limited services Lama Taesi provides most of the populace view them as a nuisance at best and tyrants at worst.
Inek's Crossing was founded shortly after the The Rending due to its abundance of lumber and proximity to the path of Lama Taesi. However, numerous lumber companies ravaged the island over the centuries, leaving it treeless and arid. The people of Inek's Crossing refused to give up on their home and began raising the Baboda to live off the land once more. The town flourished once again and several other settlements were founded on Brightsor Refuge bringing back the rule of Lama Taesi who had abandoned the town previously. Law in Inek's Crossing is known for being easily corruptable thanks to the inept and often drunk Capatian of the Skywardens assigned to protect and serve. Lack of effective law enforcement has required many of the citizens to protect themselves with any means available, guns, swords, and magic are the most common. The more wealthy among the populace will hire adventurers to protect there herds and livelihoods giving rise to a competitive environment for any budding adventurers looking for coin. Inek's Crossing has an annual cooking competition that brings in many famous chefs from around the world hoping to be crowned the Baboda Boss.
