When Captain Vulbiir asked what Humans wear (which he does for all members of The Alliance of Stars because he finds it important that they each represent their species) Neil told him that people on Earth all dress like cowboys. Captain Vulbiir created a awesome western outfit with a helmet based on cowboy hats.

Neil Winters grew up in 1930's-1940's America, seeing the aftermath of the first world war, and living through the second. This shaped how he saw Earth, the galaxy, and eventually life itself. He eventually worked his way through the college and joined the new organization, NASA, at the age of 30. He became the first ever astronaut and led a team of people to beat the Russians to the moon. Their mission was successful. Neil and his crew successfully landed on the moon on July 15, 1969, making them the first humans without abilities to land on the moon, pushing the limits of science. As they were about to leave and come back to Earth, a ship landed on the moon beside theirs. A blue alien with six arms stepped out and spoke to the astronauts telepathically with a machine installed in his helmet. The alien's name was Captain Vulbiir. He said that he needed help from them and that he was impressed by their ship. He warned them of a galactic threat called Darkstar and warned them of Darkstar's Legion. Vulbiir said his ship, The Iron Horizon is faster than Darkstar's fleets that come out of Nowak V, which is the only reason he's been able to assemble a team of aliens known as The Alliance of Stars, to end Darkstar's Legion, and any other intergalactic or universal threats for good. The astronauts on Neil's crew were shocked at this, not only because an alien was in front of them with numerous other species of aliens watching from the ship, but also because he just warned them of a galactic empire coming to take Earth. They turned down this offer, not wanting to leave their old lives and planet behind. Neil, however, took Captain Vulbiir up on this offer. He joined NASA to stretch the boundaries of science, and unite people through that; this was the perfect opportunity for that. He also had no wife to come back home to because she died earlier that year from cancer. Neil left his crew, who made it back to Earth successfully, and joined The Alliance of Stars as the first and only human in the program's history. Due to his consistent space travel, he is permanently stuck at age 39 physically, only aging when he's on a planet similar to earth.
