Lambert I
King Lambert Unpin Ungoloth, Husband of Aubrey I
INTRODUCTION
Lambert Ungoloth was the first of the House of Ungoloth to become a king of Archia. Lambert I was the tenth ruler and reigned for seventy-nine years (1419-1498). He took the throne via marriage to Aubrey Sarcho, the granddaughter of Engelbert the Deceiver. Despite the length of his reign, he actual was a very oppressive king and would set the stage for the next three generations of tyrannical rulers.
ASCENSION BY BLOOD
Lambert upset the ruling class of Archia in 1403 by ordering the murder of Engelbert II, a beloved and mighty ruler. His master strategy was to force Aubrey's hand in marriage after the inevitable fleging rule of her brother Engelbert III. The plan was delayed by Aubrey's unforeseen stuborness to abdicate the throne to a non-blood relative of Jerald I. After twelve years of civil ruin and unrest, in which Lambert played no small part, Queen Aubrey eventually agreed to marry him to allow peace to return to Archia.
LEGACY
After ascending the throne, Lambert made quick work to consolidate power. In the first six years, he hunted down and executed all living relatives of Jerald II. With no competitors to the throne, Lambert made a clear path to power for his sons and grandsons for the next two thousand years. Lambert would have two sons with Aubrey, who he named Lambert and Siegebret. Aubrey lived a miserable life until Lambert's death in 1498. She would wield great influence over their son Lambert during his rule, and even helped raise her grandson Lambert IV, discarding all of her husband's attempts to end any corellations between the Houses of Sarcho and Ungoloth.
