Bloom Spire
HISTORY OF BLOOM SPIRE
Bloom Spire is located in The Forsaken Forest, about 100 miles east of the Confederation of Fondalar, and 150 miles from the Archian Border. It was built in the late second period, in the year 1294 2p. The original architect built the massive tower to be an outpost for the Eternal Kingdom, a colony of Graineags located in the Forsaken Forest. After the corruption of the forest after the Graineags died out in 1988 3p, a group of Dark Reapers, under guise of travelers, occupied the spire to conduct surveillance on the merciful in the Northern parts of the Archian Kingdom. Later, when the keepers became prominent in the 24th century, it became the base of operations for the lesser four keepers of Kor'non: The Keeper of Death, the Keeper of Hidden Words, the Keeper of All, and the Keeper of Crowns.
CONFLICTS AT THE TOWER
Despite its relatively unknown existence, many conflicts have taken place in and around the tower, fighting for the sacred ground. The first of these took place between the Chambraids of the North Isles, who thought the appearance of warlocks so close to the Cordal Coast meant trouble. Six battles took place between the two sides between 2449 3p - 3730 3p. The Keepers managed to hold on to the spire throughout the entirety of the Third Period, before the Second Magic War at the end of the third period. For the first half of the fourth period, it remained unoccupied, until the keepers returned for a second time and guarded the forests more heavily. A massive battle took place between the Merciful of Loscin and the Keepers of Kor'non in the Third Great Magic War in 4492 4p. This conflict resulted in the overthrow of the Second Keepers, and the death of a dozen merciful. The final blow to decomancy and Kor'non was dealt just a few days later, when Lord King Kerian IX of Archia defeated the armies of the Alilington Empire with the help of Jublinah Ward and Lavern Olion.
THE HAUNTING OF BLOOM SPIRE
The Mercifuls of Loscin are aware of the spire, as well as the royal family of the North Isles. But the very few inhabitants of the Forsaken Forest do as well, who in turn spread myths and half truths about the Spire. Many believe it is enchanted, and whoever steps within its borders is possessed and made into one of the fabled 'guardians'. Others say the place doesn't even exist, and its made up in old wives tales to scare children. However, only Merciful and the ancient of the North Isles have actually seen the Spire, and both are notoriously secretive, thus making the existence of such a tower still relatively unknown to the general population of the surrounding nations. The Haunting of Bloom Spire remains a mystery to this day.
Hazards & Traps
The Spire is riddled with boobytraps and mazes, to guard the various treasures hidden throughout the grounds. All of the decomatic items kept by the Keepers are hidden here, thus making it a very valuable location for Kor'non and his minions. Poison spikes, hidden pits, cobras and vipers, and skull warriors are just a few of the hazards within the ground of Bloom Spire.
Alterations
A massive green spire was added around the time the second round of Keepers took control. The green spire was added onto the front wall of the tower, creating a menacing look to it. Even the original owners of the Eternal Kingdom built it to look terrifying, thus making it a very suitable place for the Keepers to hide out and spy the area. Not much about the structure of the tower has changed over the centuries, but the outer wall is significantly more recent than the tower itself, built in just the 41st Century, fourth period. The courtyard and training grounds are now guarded and used for training the elite skeleton guards of the keepers, who now referred to as The Guardians of Bloom Spire.
THE GUARDIANS OF BLOOM SPIRE
Because there are only five Keepers of Kor'non, there is not sufficient power between them to protect the Spire from an assault by other warlocks. This resulted in the downfall of the tower in the second period, in the first loss of the Keepers. The second round of Keepers fixed this problem by using their decomatic powers to raise super soldiers of the dead. Their vicious look and horrifying appearance is enough to guard the tower against any regular enemy. Their weapons are enchanted with a dark magic unknown to anyone except the Keepers, making the fear of attacking such a troop even greater. Even though the Merciful in the fourth period were able to throw down the army of the Keeper of Crowns, it did not come at any small cost. These terrifying skeletons are capable of slaying even the most powerful merciful, making the Spire one of the last places any normal man would want to dwell.
